Devalsari Koneshwar Mahadev Temple: A Hidden Shiva Temple in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is not just about high snow mountains and crowded hill stations. It has many hidden places where nature and spirituality come together. One such beautiful place is Devalsari, surrounded by deep Deodar forests in the Tehri Garhwal region.

Where is Devalsari?

This peaceful mountain area is located in the Jaunpur region of Tehri Garhwal. It is famous for its green environment, tall Deodar trees, and the route to the famous Nag Tibba Trek.

About Koneshwar Mahadev Temple

The Koneshwar Mahadev Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Unlike crowded city temples, this place is very quiet and peaceful.

The Local Legend

According to local stories, a saint once asked villagers for a small piece of land to meditate. Because they were farming on that land, the villagers said no. The story says that after the saint left, the farming fields magically turned into a thick Deodar forest overnight.

People believe that the Shivling in this temple appeared on its own. A unique tradition here is that devotees take a full circle (parikrama) around the Shivling, which makes it different from other Shiva temples.
